Search by container family
Containers help predict a broad loot role, not a guaranteed item. Community catalogs distinguish weapon, ammunition, food, clothing, medical, cache, vehicle-part, miscellaneous, and event sources. Official updates have changed containers alongside maps and events, so exact pools and positions need live observation.
Choose the family that solves the current need. Searching every container in a landmark increases exposure and fills inventory with low-priority items.
Container lookup
Open containers without getting caught
Observe the building or scene first. Open doors, missing vehicles, agitated infected, and bodies suggest activity without proving another player remains. Find cover and an exit. Avoid standing in a doorway or window while inventory is open.
Open the container, take the item that answers the need, and close it. Move to cover for detailed sorting. If gunfire or movement occurs, abandon the interface; the contents are not worth losing the character.
At random-event scenes, expect other players who followed the same signal. At secret locations, avoid repeating a vulnerable entrance while overloaded.
Record a pool honestly
One opening confirms that an item can appear in that container, map, event, and build. It does not establish probability or completeness. Record date, server context, map, landmark, exact container description, event state, and observed items. Repeat across independent servers before describing a pattern.
Do not combine Beta, Reimagined, Alpha, AR1, and seasonal observations. Do not count an already-looted container as an empty natural result. If another player may have interacted with it, mark the observation uncertain.
Leave probability blank unless a controlled, sufficiently large method exists. “Common” and “rare” also need a stated basis.
Plan a container route
Pick two or three source families tied to the missing supplies. Connect nearby locations with observation points and exits. Include a fallback ordinary supply stop. Avoid long routes that promise one special crate without food, water, or healing.
For weapons, remember that ammunition support matters. For vehicle parts, know the required component before carrying it. For cosmetics, record current availability. For event containers, confirm the event is active.
Use Beta Map and Reimagined Map for scope rather than copying a pin across worlds.
Event and update changes
The 2026 Drying update explicitly changed random events, containers, infected, and vehicles. The Soviet Takeover and anniversary added other temporary content. A pre-update container map can therefore be structurally correct while its pool or event context is stale.
Tag observations current, event-limited, expired, legacy, or unverified-after-update. Preserve historical sources without sending players to them as current routes.
Cross-links
Use Ammo for compatibility, Consumables for effects, Vehicle Repair for parts, Cosmetic Locations for wearables, and Random Events for temporary scenes. This page owns container identity and observation, not every item’s changing behavior.
Verification status
The broad loot system is official; container families and working locations are community-maintained evidence. Exact names, pools, positions, access, event variants, and probabilities require current repeated observations. No guaranteed item or invented rate is claimed. Last reviewed September 18, 2026.
Quick decision at an open container
Before taking anything, name the current shortage: treatment, hydration, supported ammunition, storage, a vehicle component, or an event objective. Take the item that closes that shortage, then check whether its size forces out something more important. Leave incompatible ammunition and speculative parts unless a teammate has a confirmed use. If the source contains a rare-looking object, read its exact name from cover before changing the route. Close the interface whenever sound, infected movement, or another player changes the situation. A fast, purposeful search protects more value than emptying every slot simply because the container was difficult to reach.
